SLIT TOE ASSASSINphoto
My main man Clint Hines of Ona, Florida, AKA "Split Toe Assassin" shot this
mature 8 point buck in his home state of Florida. Even though the body sizes
are smaller in Florida, Clint still harvests bucks with antlers over a hundred
inches year after year. Clint is now stalking the illusive monster bucks of Pike
County Illinois.

MICHIGAN BOW KILL
IMG_0388

WELL I DECIDED TO PULL THE TRIGGER ON THIS YOUNG MICHIGAN DEER.
I CAUGHT A PRETTY GOOD GLIMPSE OF HIS LEFT SIDE AND THOUGHT HE
MIGHT HAVE FOUR POINTS ON THE LEFT SIDE. WELL I WAS WRONG BUT
NEEDLES TO SAY I WAS STILL PRETTY HAPPY WHEN I FOUND HIM. HE WAS
OUT ABOUT 50 YARDS AWAY FROM ME WHEN I GRUNTED AT HIM AND HE
DECIDED TO TAKE A LOOK. HE CAME RIGHT UNDER MY TREE AT ABOUT
10 YARDS. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT I GOT A GOOD SHOT ON HIM BECAUSE I
WAS PRETTY HIGH IN THE TREE. I WATCHED HIM PILE UP ABOUT FIFTY YARDS
AWAY BEFORE I FINALLY LOST SIGHT OF HIM.

North Dakota Buck
DSC01160
Hey Mike,  I thought you might like this pick of my first buck.  I shot this 8pt in
North Dakota where Jason Lapratt went last year.  I used a Rage 2 blade broadhead.
These things are nasty.  Pic below of the entry hole.
DSC01179
I wish it was a little larger, but not bad for the first.  I actually won the buck
pool we had.  Out of 4 people only 2 shot a buck.  High winds and rain for a
couple of days made things a little difficult.

Thanks Randy

QUALITY TAXIDERMY

IMG_0361IMG_0367
If you are like me when I decided to get my first deer
mount I never thought about the difference between
taxidermists. I
thought all taxidermists were the same.
Now that I know the
difference I always recommend to
people to spend the money and get a professional
taxidermist. In this case it is true
, you get what you
pay for.

The picture on the left is a mule deer I
harvested in Wyoming. The deer on the right is a
whitetail I had done by
Char’s Five-O Taxidermy.
As you can see there is major difference in the mount.
When you get that deer of a lifetime make sure that
you have a quality taxidermist do the work. Ask the
taxidermist about the mount. If you get a quality
taxidermist he or she will know things that most
hunters or taxidermist
don’t know about deer.
Professional taxidermists know about the fine details
of deer physiology.

Professional taxidermist may have a deer pen near
their shop so they can study a live model. The quality
of the tan you get on the cape also plays a major role
in the mount.
The Wildlife Gallery, Blanchard, Michigan
tanned the cape of the deer on the right. A professional
tan makes the hair look healthy and ads years to the
life of the mount.

T/C PRO HUNTER

I am getting ready for my December Muzzleload trip to Walnut
Knob Outdoors. I purchased a T/C Encore Pro Hunter from
Jay's Sporting Goods and its a great gun. My last shot was a
200 meter shot without a zeroing bench. It was a close shot
but still needs work.
2008 BOW SEASON UNDERWAY

It has begun. The 2008 season is upon us. This footage was taken on October 4, 2008
my second time in the stand.
